Weight Management Plans

The Hazard Clinic Weight Management
Nutritional Counselor will work with you to develop
a weight management food plan that will complement your lifestyle and your
efforts to lose weight.
Two plans will be offered:
1. Low Carbohydrate Plan: the
principle behind this food plan is the restriction of carbohydrates which
places the body in ketosis. The body produces insulin to convert excess
carbohydrates into body fat, so by eliminating carbohydrates the body
"burns oft’" stored fat to provide fuel for the body resulting
in weight loss.
Examples of
these plans include the Adkins diet, the Stillman diet, and the Scarsdale
diets. Restrictions include bread, potatoes. and pasta and other complex
carbohydrates. When complex carbohydrates are broken down tin the body,
they become simple sugars, thereby increasing your insulin levels which
the direct the body to store this sugar as fat. This plan avoids this
step.
2. Low Fat Plan: this is a
well balanced, low calorie, low fat plan that is based on current dietary
recommendations. Fat within the diet is restricted to 30% or less. Our
nutritionist will calculate your calorie intake.
Both plans are suitable for weight
management. Neither plan will result in faster weight loss results.
Remember, this is a life time commitment that you are making JUST FOR
YOU!! Your weight did not appear overnight and, unfortunately it will not
disappear overnight either.
Remember, Our goal is to help you reach your goal for a healthier
lifestyle.
